Yellow Yellow

I finished this painting last week on Monday I think.  I first started with the underpainting, pushing raw umber and gamsol around, placing edges where I saw fit and keeping it simple yet informative.  I didn’t have in mind the yellow flowers in the initial underpaint but I did know I wanted to add something to the mix…especially since I grabbed the image somewhere off of google. I changed several things around so I could deviate from the original image that I referenced.  I also paid very close attention to the composition and placement of light, shadow, warm vs. cool (although I may I muted the colors a little too much since I was using a decent amount) and the form.

All in all it was a good excersize for me and I learned alot from this lil’ guy.  I think I’ll name her “Yellow Yellow”.
